Your neighborhood place for a leisurely lunch with a friend, family dinners or a late-night amaro.
Via Carota is the West Village osteria of celebrated downtown chefs Rita Sodi and Jody Williams. Renowned for its simple, seasonal menu, Via Carota serves Italian food reminiscent of home in a spirit of relaxed care and warmth.
Inspired by the 17th-century villa in the hills near Florence which Sodi once called home, Via Carota honors old-world Italian roots, lifestyle, and culinary traditions. The interior features heirloom keepsakes collected over the years by the chefs. Outside, the terrazza offers a place to enjoy good weather on beautiful, tree-lined Grove Street.
Via Carota earned Sodi and Williams the James Beard Award for Best Chefs, New York City, in 2019. The chefs’ other beloved restaurants are just down Grove Street – I Sodi, Buvette, Bar Pisellino, and The Commerce Inn. Via Carota is open early until late, serving food and drink without pause in true osteria fashion.
